Adios, Cowboy – Arc 1 – Day 54

More line and copy edits on episode 9 and 10 today. I felt good about where they were yesterday, but today I saw where I should sharpen things to a bit of a finer point.

On deeper reflection, I don’t think there’s a lot going on under the hood of episode 10. Sure, it makes me feel a bunch of feelings and provides some inroads into Jet’s character. Beyond those two things, I think its structure as an elegy limits its potential for doing anything other than being a monument for Jet’s past. And since it’s a past the audience knows very little about, the impact of the elegy is reduced because the story is at once making us care about a place that it is simultaneously trying to bury.

Good emotional affect but not much else.
