Adios, Cowboy – Arc 1 – Day 15

Let it not be said I am anything but 100% committed to this project. After jamming out a 40 page report at work, I came home and wrote my review of Heavy Metal Queen.

Mind you, it is far from a perfectly polished draft, but that’s future Adam’s problem. His job is to make sense of my half-exhausted prose and run-on sentences. Present Adam’s job is to put the words on the page in some semblance of order.

In related news, twice watching and then writing about an episode whose protagonist is a space trucker has left me really wanting to play some Elite Dangerous. And now that I’m thinking about it, Cowboy Bebop seems to understand the economics of its setting much better than Elite Dangerous.

One of the first things we see in Bebop is the eponymous ship incurring a toll for use of the hyperspace gateway system. The show grasps the seemingly complicated idea that maintaining infrastructure requires taxes and fees *glares at David Braben*. Elite Dangerous has an oddly libertarian aversion to taxing people to pay for things like hyperspace beacons, space stations, police interceptors, and military starships.

But that’s a rant for another day.

Let the record show I am now across the half way mark on rough drafts. Where is my scotch?
